The Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC), has been named as a Midlands finalist for the 2022 StartUp Awards in the ‘Manufacturing and Engineering’ category. The winners will be announced as part of a distinguished ceremony at The Crane in Birmingham on 16 June.

The StartUp Awards was launched to recognise the booming startup scene across the UK, which has accelerated at a rapid pace since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, when most of the world was shutting down, more than 400,000 startups were established in Britain alone, with similar increases seen across numerous other European countries.

Supported nationally by BT, EY, Dell & Intel, the programme will celebrate the achievements of the amazing individuals across the UK who have turned an idea into an opportunity and taken the risk to launch a new product or service.

The DMC is an advanced production facility created to harness the disruptive potential of additive manufacturing (AM). It is already enabling the development of pioneering and innovative technologies across the UK’s most advanced industries, including aerospace, space, defence, automotive, motorsport, medtech, marine and energy. The DMC embraces Industry 4.0 principles and is leading the establishment of an advanced manufacturing supply chain in the UK.

Kieron Salter, CEO of the DMC, commented: “The DMC was born and built during the pandemic, with the doors officially opened in April 2021. In less than a year, we have moved from strength to strength, building long-term technical partnerships and developing a diverse and engagedworld-renowned customer base.

“To have our efforts and investment recognised by the 2022 StartUp Awards is a hugely proud moment. Bringing the DMC to life has been a monumental journey for our team and partners – we’re honoured to line up alongside some of the best startup businesses in the UK for this year’s awards ceremony.”
